Geschichte der Rasse
Sailors are said to have carried these cats from Arkhangelsk to Britain in the 1860s, which is why the breed was once called the Archangel Cat. Numbers collapsed in the Second World War and the breed was rebuilt with Siamese and British Blue crosses, then bred back to type.
