Geschichte der Rasse
Brown cats of intermediate type appear in Thai manuscripts and in early Western imports. The modern breed was made deliberately in Canada in the 1960s by Margaret Conroy, who crossed a Burmese with a Siamese and found the result bred true enough to standardise.
