小知识

The beckoning cat figure, maneki-neko, is modelled on this breed.
Every tail is different, and no two pom-poms are alike.
The tricolour calico pattern, mi-ke, is the most prized in Japan.

适合人群

People who want a talkative, athletic cat that takes to travel and new places well.

日常护理

Easy coat care, weekly for shorthairs and twice weekly for longhairs. Expect conversation.

品种历史

Short-tailed cats reached Japan from China more than a thousand years ago and appear throughout Japanese art. In 1602 cats were released by decree to protect silkworm stores from rodents, which is how the breed became a street cat rather than a courtly one.
