Bon à savoir
- Known in Europe since the 17th century, when cats were brought from Persia.
- The modern flat face is a 20th-century development; older lines had longer noses.
- Doll-face lines keep the traditional muzzle and breathe more easily.
À qui convient-elle ?
Calm indoor homes with time every day for grooming; not a cat for a busy, noisy household.
Entretien
Comb daily — a missed week means mats. Wipe the eyes daily and watch for breathing difficulty.
Histoire de la race
Longhaired cats reached Italy from Persia in the 1620s, carried by the traveller Pietro della Valle. English breeders shaped them through the Victorian era, and American breeders pushed the face flatter from the 1950s — the point at which the breed's health problems began.
