Chatons Polydactyle
Not a breed but a trait: cats born with extra toes, common in New England ports.

Chatons : 0
Bon à savoir
- Sailors valued them as steady-footed ratters, which is why port towns still have so many.
- Ernest Hemingway's house in Key West keeps a colony of their descendants.
- Extra toes appear in many breeds and in ordinary house cats alike.
À qui convient-elle ?
Anyone; the extra toes make no difference to how a cat lives.
Entretien
Check and clip the extra claws, which can grow into the pad if they never touch the ground.
Histoire de la race
Extra-toed cats travelled on ships out of Boston and Halifax, where sailors thought them lucky and steadier in rough seas. The trait concentrated in port towns on both sides of the Atlantic, and Hemingway's Key West colony descends from one such ship's cat.
