Bon à savoir
- Documented in Thai manuscripts centuries before it reached the West in the 1880s.
- Points are darker where the body is cooler, which is why the face, ears, legs and tail carry the colour.
- Modern show lines are far slimmer than the rounder cats of a century ago.
À qui convient-elle ?
People at home much of the day who want an involved, vocal companion.
Entretien
Almost no grooming. It needs company: many owners keep two so neither is ever alone.
Histoire de la race
The royal cat of Siam, described in Thai manuscripts centuries before it left the country. A pair given to the British consul-general reached London in 1884 and caused a sensation; the breed has been through several shape changes in the show ring since.
