Bon à savoir
- Traces to a hairless kitten born in Toronto in 1966.
- Not hairless to the touch — the skin carries a fine down, like a peach.
- Body temperature feels higher because nothing insulates the skin.
À qui convient-elle ?
Owners at home often, in a warm house, ready for a weekly bath and a cat that must be with them.
Entretien
Bathe weekly, clean ears and nail beds often, keep out of direct sun, and dress or heat the room in winter.
Histoire de la race
A hairless kitten named Prune was born in Toronto in 1966. Earlier hairless cats had appeared in Mexico and elsewhere without leaving a line. The modern breed rests on Prune and on two later Minnesota and Toronto foundlings, outcrossed to Devon Rex.
