小知识
- Descended from cats that came over on ships to keep grain stores free of mice.
- The silver tabby is the pattern the breed is best known for.
- Bred for soundness rather than an extreme face or body.
适合人群
Almost any household, including first-time owners and families with children.
日常护理
A weekly brush and a close watch on portions — this breed puts on weight easily.
品种历史
The founders arrived on ships from Europe — the Mayflower's cargo included cats — and spent three centuries as working farm animals. A tabby male sold for two thousand dollars in 1904 marked the point at which breeders began treating them as a pedigree rather than a mouser.
