1. Who this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information KittensNest.com ("KittensNest", "we", "us") collects when you visit the site, create an account, publish a listing, or contact a seller, and what we do with it.

It applies to the KittensNest website only. It does not apply to the independent breeders, rescues, owners, or partner companies you may deal with through us — they handle your information under their own policies.

2. Information you give us

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash, so nobody at KittensNest can read your actual password.

If you register as a seller, we also collect the profile details you choose to enter: contact name, cattery or business name, telephone number, city, state or postal code, classification (cattery, hobby breeder, rescue, or private owner), website, breeds you work with, a profile photo, and your description of yourself.

When you publish a listing we collect the details and photographs you upload for that animal. When you write to us through the Contact page, we receive whatever you include in that message.

3. Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server log data when you visit: IP address, browser type, referring page, and the date and time of the request. This is used for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing technical problems.

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in as you move between pages. It is strictly necessary for the site to function and does not track you across other websites.

Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads. We do not send them any other information about you.

4. How we use your information

To create and secure your account, verify your email address, and log you in.

To publish the listings and profile details you have chosen to make public, and to let interested buyers contact you.

To send you service messages such as email verification, password-related notices, and important changes to the platform.

To operate seller memberships, including billing and renewal notices where applicable.

To detect fraud, enforce our Terms & Conditions, respond to your support requests, and comply with the law.

5. What is shown publicly

Seller profiles and listings are public by design — that is the point of a directory. Your listing details, photographs, cattery name, general location, and description can be seen by anyone visiting the site.

You control several of these settings in your seller profile: whether your phone number is displayed publicly, whether you appear in the seller directory, and whether your city and postal code are hidden.

Your email address and your password are never displayed publicly.

Please do not put information in a public field — a listing description, for example — that you would not want strangers, search engines, or scrapers to see.

6. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade your email address to advertisers.

We share data only with service providers who help us run the platform — our web host, and the email service that delivers verification and notification messages — and only to the extent needed to provide that service.

If you choose to use a partner transport or veterinary service, any information you give that company goes to them directly, under their own privacy policy, not through us.

We may disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate fraud or protect the safety of a person or an animal.

7. Payments

No payment for an animal ever passes through KittensNest. We do not collect, store, or process card numbers, bank details, or deposits for any sale or adoption — that money moves directly between you and the other party.

Where paid memberships are offered — to buyers or to sellers — payment is handled by a third-party payment processor. Card details are entered on the processor's systems, not ours, and we never see or store your full card number. We receive only the information needed to manage your subscription, such as your plan, its status, and the last four digits of the card.

8. How long we keep it

We keep your account and profile information for as long as your account is open. Listings remain until you remove them or we remove them under our Terms.

After you close your account we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records longer for legal, tax, security, or fraud-prevention reasons.

9. Your choices and rights

You can review and update most of your information at any time from your account settings, including the visibility options on your seller profile.

You may ask us to provide a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, or delete your account and its data. Contact us through the Contact page and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Depending on where you live — for example, under the California Consumer Privacy Act — you may have additional rights, including the right to know what we collect and to opt out of any sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but the session cookie is required to stay logged in, so disabling it will prevent you from using an account.

10. Security

The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, and access to the database is restricted. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information.

No website can promise perfect security. If we ever become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

11. Children

KittensNest is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the platform develops. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be highlighted on the site.

Questions about privacy, or requests about your data, can be sent to us through our Contact page.
