Bon à savoir
- Arose in Devon in 1959, from a different gene to the Cornish Rex.
- Sits on shoulders by preference and seeks out warm laps.
- Sheds very little, though this does not make it hypoallergenic.
À qui convient-elle ?
People who want a cat that behaves rather like a small dog and is always underfoot.
Entretien
Clean the ears regularly and keep the cat warm. Bathe occasionally; the thin coat lets skin oils build up.
Histoire de la race
In 1959 a curly-coated kitten called Kirlee was born near a disused tin mine in Devon. Breeders assumed he carried the Cornish Rex gene, but crossing the two produced only straight-coated kittens — proof that a second, separate rex mutation had appeared.
