    Always ask for recent photos and a video call before paying anything.

    Check the seller yourself — ask for their vet’s details, any club or registry membership, and buyers they have sold to before.

    Never wire money or use gift cards. Agree the payment method directly with the seller and keep your own record of what you paid.

    Ask for vaccination and health records, and if applicable, registration papers.

    Meet in person, or use a transport company you have checked yourself, before making the final payment.
