Good to know
- Created in the 1990s from Munchkin and Persian-group cats.
- Comes in both short-legged and standard-legged forms, both in the same litters.
- Renamed Minuet in 2015 to end confusion with an unrelated line.
Who it suits
Calm households wanting a sweet-natured cat, with owners who accept the short-leg controversy.
Care
Comb the long coat several times a week and wipe the eyes daily. Provide steps onto sofas and beds.
History of the breed
Joe Smith, a Munchkin breeder, crossed short-legged cats with Persians in the 1990s and called the result the Napoleon. The breed was renamed Minuet in 2015, and cats with standard legs are bred alongside short-legged ones to keep the line healthy.
